In the past, when you started taking pictures, you always tried to avoid taking pictures in the top light. The top light here refers to the light from the top, which can easily leave ugly shadows under the eyelashes, nose and lips of the model. But after a period of shooting, little Jack found that the top light was also a good material to use. It's not about confronting people with the sun. It's about taking pictures even at noon in the sun, not just sighing at the beautiful scenery.
I often hear many photographers mentioned that the top light is a big problem in portrait shooting. So when we took pictures at noon, we were ready for a rest time. After all, when the sun came over our head and the light was strong, we always felt it was not easy to take good pictures. There were some regrets in our hearts, because it was clear. The scenery is still beautiful, but we can only take a break from work? After many times of shooting, slowly found that even if the top light, as long as you find a way, you can still take good pictures.
Avoiding the edge and taking advantage of it, you can shoot at noon and understand the angle of change.
The biggest problem in top-lighting shooting is that it is easy to leave a large eyelash shadow on the face of MD. At this time, adjusting the angle of POSE of MD pendulum, turning slightly to elevation, or bowing head, can avoid such lines. So when encountering top-lighting, you may as well ask MD to turn the angle of head, and you can find good shadows, or make good use of top-lighting. It will produce edge light characteristics above, outline the side face of MD, and also get beautiful works. If you slow down the shutter a little more, you can also take a special effect of local single light.
_Beautiful edges can be drawn by facing the light source side by side.
If there is a large area of sunshade in the scene, there will be sharp local light. If it's in the forest, the sun will shine through the leaves and form beautiful shadows. Such a light source can bring a very strong visual effect. Previously, under the electric tower outside the embankment on the road around the river, we found that the cement column under the electric tower had beautiful light and shadow. We asked MD to lean against the wall, and with the gesture of MD, let the shadow play a very beautiful tension, which is also interesting.
_The effect of focusing light is created by focusing light formed by caves.
_Some light sources can also be blocked by tree shade.

_It feels better to block the light down with a large wall.
Make up the light with a flash
The shadow produced by the top light can be slightly eliminated by using the flash to strike the light directly from the front with a slight obliquity, but don't exert too much effort until the bright spot appears on the face, as long as the shadow can be eliminated. This is because it is outdoors, you can generally try to take the flash away from the space to make the light more soft. If the flash is too close, it is easy to exert too much to form a bright spot or an unnatural sense of light.
_Light the MD's left front with a flash, and scatter the strong light from the front of the face slightly.

In addition, the reflective board is also a good choice for top lighting, just because I need the help of another friend, so it is less used now, but if MD brings friends, I will turn the reflective board out again. \^O^/
Friends help with lighting.
In fact, there is another reason for not taking pictures at noon. It is also to avoid MD taking pictures in overheated environment. It is easy to get heatstroke or dizziness. So we still have to cherish our MD. We still need to give MD proper rest in the sun. We all need to remember to replenish water before we can take more vigorous photos.
