The concept of documentary wedding photography is an exotic product. Weddings in western countries are different from those in China. Wedding images in western countries mainly depend on the wedding day. In China, couples usually divide wedding photography and wedding day photography into two parts. They tend to focus on wedding photography and ignore the wedding day shooting, wedding day photography is usually only used as a record form. Weddings in western countries convert the photographic form into documentary form. The couple will employ professional wedding photographers to complete the shooting. Professional wedding photographers use their technology, sensibility and aesthetics to capture the wonderful moment of the wedding. 2. Characteristics of documentary wedding photography

On the other hand, it unconsciously loses the personality and the characteristics and temperament of the new couple. This is an unavoidable side effect of quantification and a pity.

Wedding and photography are very demanding for a photographer. We should have keen insight, strong and skilled technology, good physical strength, experience, foresight of the development of things, and advance of shooting. The main way of wedding photography now is different from the documentary wedding in Europe and America. The documentary wedding in Europe and America focuses on documentary, and there won't be many or even no set-up scenes. And our popular wedding photography now requires the combination of two points, that is, the combination of documentary and art.
Therefore, this requires higher, but also have a snapshot, snapshot must be artistic, but also have a pendulum, the pendulum must be very natural! This is very different from our usual travel, portrait shooting, social documentary, so if you really have never photographed friends, the previous shooting, will be very painful, really do not know where to start.
3. Several Difficulties in Wedding and Filming
First of all, we will not talk about equipment, process or technology, but we will talk about some difficulties. This is what we pay great attention to, and it is also the most demanding point for us.
When we shoot a wedding, we experience too many complicated lights: natural light, incandescent light, fluorescent light, cold light of tracer, warm light in Hotel lobby, color light on wedding stage, and our flash. And the super-complex light mixing between these different lights. The complexity of light directly affects two problems. The first is how to use up. Which should be avoided and which should be utilized.
A wedding goes through too many complicated lights
The second is white balance, of course, the simplest way is to shoot RAW format, later can better restore the correct white balance. But the RAW format is very large, and the wedding takes a lot of photos. If our memory card is not enough, we must take jpg format. So once we take jpg format, we must make the white balance as correct as possible. In these complex light environment, the automatic white balance mode can not accurately restore the correct white balance, so it is necessary to manually control the color temperature. Experienced photographers, have a certain degree of confidence in the color temperature of the light source, can be generally correct, so even if there are deviations, but also very small, post-adjustment is easy, after adjustment of the photos will not have too much loss. If there is no concept of white balance, we need to understand the rough characteristics of these light sources before shooting.

Just make sure you don't have too much color bias at the wedding.
At the wedding ceremony, as long as we ensure that we don't bias too much, there is no need to be very precise, sometimes it can not be very precise, such as color lights, pure red, pure yellow color lights, we still retain its color, because it is the restoration of the atmosphere on the spot. What we need to do is white balance in the overall bright environment. Commonly used values are from 4000K to 6000k, warm light is placed below 5000k, cold light is placed above 5000k, here to adjust according to different environments, before shooting with different white balance to shoot a few, find the appropriate color temperature value, in the case of light unchanged, fixed on it.
In fact, here is a little trick and experience: the bride's home, fixed lighting environment, natural light, indoor lighting and flash three in one. The color temperature is controlled around 5000k, and the picture will be very clean. Outdoor shooting, are all natural light, at most is the flash light to supplement the light, here can be put in automatic white balance. The hotel is complicated. The warm hall is about 4500k, depending on how warm the light is. Tracer lamp, at about 5600 k, depends on the output of the tracer. This is to ensure overall accuracy, of course, not completely accurate, but corrected, because we also need some sense of the scene, the hall should be kept warm, and the pursuit of light should be kept cold. Because that's what our eyes see. What we have done is not to deviate too much, make no difference in color, don't make it all yellow, all blue, that's all.
In terms of light, it belongs to the grasp of technology. Mainly pay attention to the outside under the backlight flash does not fill, sometimes need to fill the light, sometimes even if the backlight is not necessary to repair. Make good use of the light from all angles to get the best effect and feeling.
2. Angle and station
At my wedding, I often see friends who play photography, but most of them are standing there, zoom shooting. Will not deliberately pursue the angle. How can we make the documentary film brilliant, which requires us to grasp different angles. In fact, the angle is very simple, that is, the normal parallel shooting of the upright and downward shooting, which is the seat. The cross-sectional angle between the photographer and the subject is also important, including the front, side and back. This vertical and horizontal plane is actually a three-dimensional 3D space, there are countless angles to capture.
Grasp different perspectives
The station is mainly at the wedding site. Although our photography is basically guerrilla, it can not be totally self-sufficient. Here we need to take care of the central location of the camera. It's basically immovable, just close and far shooting. So we can't block it for a long time. When we have to block it, we should move quickly, clap and flip away. And when we shoot the stage, we can't stand still in one place, so that the angle of the photo will not be vivid, it will be very rigid to record. We can shoot from both sides, front and even back of the stage to create rich perspectives and give people different feelings of change.
3. Coordination among shutter, aperture, ISO and flash
It's hard to say that as a whole. Experience is that we must grasp a key point, that is, when using flash, we should play the natural, then we need a mode: slow synchronization. In fact, under the premise of guaranteeing natural light, the main body is brightened. The reason why it is called "slow speed" is that the shutter speed is relatively slow to ensure ambient light in a dark environment. And what we shoot is the wedding, we need to capture, so we have to shutter fast, how to do, then we must use high ISO to cooperate.
My experience is that the room is generally in iso400-iso1600, M gear, shutter in 1/60s-1/200s, to ensure ambient light, and then flash manually output, control supplementary light. The basic angle of the flash is between 60 degrees in the forward direction and vertical direction. Ensure the overall brightness, accurate exposure of the main body, natural and soft picture.
4. Communication with Some Important Persons
Communication is necessary, and it is necessary to communicate with a large number of people. This is very, very good for our shooting.
Communicate with the bride, mobilize her emotions, and let her joy and happiness show itself, so that we can catch. Generally, the bride will be more nervous at the beginning, chatting with her lightly, telling other people's marriage stories, letting her talk about interesting things before with the groom, and naturally she will relax, smile, happy, happiness will naturally come out, we click on, we can catch it.
Communicate with the bride to mobilize her emotions
Communicate with the groom, let him relax, let him not care too much about the messy things, these things will have a special person to manage, there are supervisors, helpful friends. Let him interact with the bride as much as possible, let him relax and feel the happiness of the new marriage, so that the two talents have a tacit understanding, and our film production rate has greatly improved.
Communicate with the supervisor and understand the arrangement of the content related to our shooting. For example, the route of the motorcade, the situation of the camera car, the departure time, the arrival time, and so on.
Communicate with supervisor about shooting
Communicate with the on-site supervision of the wedding ceremony to understand the start time, process, lighting situation and the position of important people. Because we don't know the seven aunts and eight aunts of the bride and groom and their leaders, we must know in advance and take some snaps of them in order to be in place.
Communicate with the host's master of ceremonies and understand the details of the process, including the appearance of the new person, the position of the new person, the position of the host, who speaks first, lighting candles, handing in drinks and so on.
We must master the whole process before the wedding starts and cooperate closely with the important people in each link. Only in this way can we master the amount of advance and make preparations for the shooting before the process arrives.
IV. Equipment and Equipment
The most practical focal segment is the 24-70 focal segment after 35 mm; the focal segment for close-up is the 70-200 focal segment after 35 mm; the focal segment for large scene is the 16-35 focal segment after 35 mm, which is actually the so-called big ternary.
We do not need full focal coverage
However, we do not necessarily need full coverage of these focal segments! Our main lens must zoom over the focal range of 24-70. Because we can't get close to some places, it's inconvenient to fix the focus.
Focusing is a colourful lens, other lenses can be used to fix focus, from 16 to 200 can be used, fixed focus has a large aperture, good quality, can shoot a very tasty documentary effect. Mainly used are 35, 50, 85, 135 focal segments.
For large scenes, we need an extended lens with a focal length larger than that of a 35mm 24 lens.
The whole picture is naturally ideal, so is the C picture.
It's better to have three machines and three mirrors, or two machines and three mirrors, or two machines and two mirrors. Change your head, it's better not to think about it. There's very little time for you to change the lens.

Equipment do not want to say more, because friends are not professional wedding and filmmaker, natural lens have their own preferences, try to use the equipment in their hands!
Fifth, the general shooting process of wedding photography
1. Start shooting
At present, wedding photography is synchronized with make-up. If it's single, the photographer and the makeup artist should come to the bride's home at roughly the same time, and follow the bride to shoot, because the bride is the focus of the day is also a bright spot. Another photographer goes to the groom's house to follow the groom's photography if there are two seats.
2. Overall shooting process
The whole process is roughly divided into three parts: first, the part of the bride's home. This part includes the bride's make-up process, the bridegroom's marriage to the bride's family, and the departure process from the bride's family motorcade. Secondly, some customs add to the process of receiving the bride and returning to the bride's house first. If you go directly to the hotel, it's the motorcade part on the road. The content of this part of the film should be the freest and easiest to produce. There is plenty of time to adjust the camera and a lot of angles to grasp. Natural light, flash can be changed to shoot; both can capture, but also can swing, very free. The content is also rich: small items at home. For example, there are many things to photograph, such as sticking, putting happy words, small toys at home, balloons specially arranged for the wedding, couple photos, wedding dress photos, cups, pillows, etc. Here we need to pay special attention to observe, find the best angle, and use the most suitable focal section. In general, natural light can be used to show, long fixed-focus lens in large aperture can avoid complex background, if the environment is particularly good, in turn, use wide-angle large aperture lens to incorporate some background elements. Then there are the important items on the wedding day, such as wedding rings, bride's shoes, souvenirs, marriage certificates, bonds and so on. These things should be photographed brilliantly. Photos should be impressive, give full play to their imagination, pay attention to composition and use, and express artistic effects. Because these are very critical things.
You can take pictures of small objects at home.
Then it is shooting the bride's make-up process, close-up, panoramic, shoot it to your heart's content, the purpose is to make the bride beautiful and happy. After the bride has finished her make-up, she can take some action. At this time, she can pose for a shot, or she can interact with the bridesmaid to take some funny, interesting and happy scenes. You can also take some brides'expectations. This kind of quiet picture can also take some relatives. Mother, father and bride make-up, try to avoid taking pictures with too many people, and waste this precious time which can be arranged. This time is very film-making, make-up or state, and not tired.
Then the groom came to pick up the bride, blocked the door and stuffed the red envelope. This section does not need to mobilize emotions, general mood is very high, will be very happy. This section of the postgraduate snapping ability, are fast action. The groom enters the door, presents flowers, looks for shoes, the groomsman steals the teapot, the groom puts shoes on the bride, wears flowers, and so on. The customs are different, but generally these links, here grasp, the scene will be very messy, you can arrange it appropriately and put it on a little bit. But the more natural the better. Because they are happy from the heart.

If you go back to your new home first, there will be a change in camera adjustment, and generally not for a long time, during this period of time, take some sweet pictures between new people in the new home, kiss, hug, silhouette and so on. Generally, the layout of the bride's house will be much better than that of the bride's house. The decoration is also good and new, so we also pay attention to the beautiful scenery of the bride's house and capture it.
After arriving at the hotel, the first step is to get the bride off the bus. At this time, the very complicated environment is crowded, chaotic, with spray ribbons, along with the light and against the light, some wedding arrangements will be organized, and no one is chaotic, we must pay attention to the position, pay attention to the angle, capture the most beautiful picture, generally this section is all. Wide-angle shooting, super-wide will also be used. Then the most important place for postgraduate photographers came, that is, the bride and groom stepped into the hotel from outside the hotel, this change, adjust camera parameters, hands must be fast. Some machines have custom functions, which can be used well. Fixed a few parameters to set 123, and directly convert the turntable.
Next is the greeting stage, this stage, relatively can rest, relaxed capture some interesting pictures, such as children and so on. But it takes only a few minutes to relax. Then the bride went back to change her clothes or something. At this time, she went to the ceremony stage to take pictures of the decorations, take pictures of the scene environment, adjust the camera, drink some water, smoke, rest and supplement her physical strength. Talk with the wedding ceremony and the master of ceremonies to find out the details of the lighting effect switching and the whole process. After the wedding, we are going to fight guerrillas and constantly change our position. As we have known before, we should stand in good position ahead of time and not let those non-professional friends who come to shoot blocked their main position. Every link, every angle, the whole wedding was photographed. In fact, the scene is some snapshots, time is not particularly tense, to record the record, to catch the brilliant things that others can not see, okokokok! When the ceremony is finished, grab some food and have a rest. Waiting for the scene of the toast. The scene of toast is relatively single, and it is difficult to produce a film, so we must use our brains to seek better angles and special effects to shoot wonderful pictures. After the toast is over, the last part is the farewell part. This is also a snapshot. If the bride has changed her clothes, she can take some sketches and add a series of photos of the whole wedding.
Generally speaking, if you shoot more and have more experience, you should basically follow this process, ensure the necessary content, and then continue to innovate. If you haven't photographed it, you should know something about it, and cooperate with your own experience of shooting other things to make a good wedding. These are all minor experiences.
