How to Become the Foundation of Landscape Photography

Actually, I did a frog sitting in the well for a long time after college, just taking random photos with my camera. Two years ago, when I moved to California, I began to get in touch with landscape photography seriously. Since then, a novice photographer has finally entered the scene. This article is an article about "Let you change from a photographic novice to a landscape photographic novice". That is to say, you have to have some basic knowledge of photography and some shooting experience. If you don't even have the concept of shutter aperture, I'm sorry this article is not suitable for you. If you are a magnificent cow, please don't hesitate to teach me if I write something wrong, or if you feel you need to add something. In addition, the article will list all the small items, but each item will only be tasted, after all, each item can be expanded into a large article, here is only a hint, more information also requires you to search online.
Find a sister / man who supports you
3,000 words are omitted here. Okay, no kidding. In fact, scenery photography is very hard. Most of the time, you can only go alone or with Jiyou. If you have a partner, his or her support is important. I'm grateful for having one.
1. The Importance of Light
If you think you can't get a good view of the scenery because: A. your equipment is not good enough, B. your PS is not good enough, C. your photography is not good enough, then these ideas are probably wrong. Many people's first reaction to beautiful pictures is "Have you ever taken a photo with PS", "The color is really good", or "How can I not take the effect of other people's pictures", "I have never been to that place so beautiful as the pictures". In fact, the biggest difference between wind and ordinary travel is not the other, but the light. Wind is the most important light, and good light is usually in the sunset before and after an hour, that is, the so-called Golden Hour, it can be said that 89 percent or more of the excellent wind is completed in this time. Another magnificent scene, when the people's Congress meets the pale sunshine at noon in the camera, is often just a "visit here". So the next time you think "Why are those photos more beautiful than you can see?" try to wait for the warm sunset or the gorgeous sunset, you may have an answer.
2. Getting up early and greedy in the dark
If you realize the importance of light, you might say, "I've been there and I haven't seen good light." I'm sorry, but I didn't come across it, but I waited for it. It's hard to see good light when I go back to the hotel to play cards and watch movies after a long day's stroll. Since the best light is at sunrise and sunset, it means that if you want to make a good film, you have to get up before sunrise and go home after sunset. Sunset may be good for many people, and early sunrise can be deadly for many people. If winter is good, summer is a painful season for photographers. They get up at 4 o'clock at sunrise to take pictures, and the sun sets at 8 or 9 o'clock at night. It depends on your determination, but it's a good measure. If you don't have the determination to suffer, I'm sure you can't go any further in landscape photography.

3. Eat by day
It's not enough to have determination and perseverance. Landscape photography is a daily meal. Whether the weather is good or not determines the quality of light, and thus the quality of photographs. It's not uncommon to wait outside for a morning or evening to get nothing. So when is the best time to take a picture somewhere is also a university knowledge. For example, the coastline of San Francisco Bay is foggy in summer. If you run to the seaside every day in summer, it may be all for nothing. For the weather, at first you may think that sunny days are good and cloudy days are bad. In fact, this is not the case. Pure sunshine means that the light will be yellow and the sky has no content. It is not a good thing for many subjects such as coastal and lake photography. It's not good to have continuous rains, but the fast-moving rains often mean changeable clouds. If a part of the clouds can be dispersed at sunrise and sunset to let the sunshine pass through, the sunshine will be very spectacular. Generally speaking, as long as the clouds are not too thick, there will always be sunshine, which is the best situation in most scenarios.

1. Where to shoot and where to shoot
Many people have asked me how I know so many places I went to shoot. In fact, this is not a good answer. Generally speaking, the area of shooting location is gradually accumulated. For the concept of large scenic spots, such as a park, a coast, it is not difficult to find these places. Generally, it is the same way to understand the scenic spots. A lot of information can be obtained from the Internet, books, and even friends around you.

Compared with other photographic subjects, landscape photography is doomed to imitate the composition of others many times. There are reasons why a photographic point is classic. I don't think it's necessary to avoid it. I never shy away from classical composition. In fact, 80% of my photo composition is traced by other works on the Internet. Sometimes it happens, more often it is imitation. On the other hand, imitation before innovation is a reasonable way to reduce costs. When you shoot some classic places well, it's the beginning of moving to other places that few people go to. There are many ways of composition, such as trisection, subtraction and so on, which can be roughly found on the Internet. But it is worth mentioning that the concept of the background, because many times when the first contact with the scenery will be ignored. Landscape photography is mainly wide-angle, wide-angle photography can cover a lot of things, sometimes to avoid too monotonous elements too little should be reasonable use of the background. If the subject of a photograph is a vision, the vision is good if the level is clear, but if the level is not clear or the elements are relatively monotonous, the foreground is often the necessary background. A cluster of flowers, a stone, a dead wood in the wide angle enlargement can often play a good contrast or even the finishing touch effect. On the contrary, if the foreground is a photograph of the subject, a good foreground background is also crucial.

1. Cameras and lenses
I don't really pay much attention to cameras and lenses. The requirements for cameras and lenses in landscape photography are simple (not that they are inexpensive, but that they do not allow you to make too many choices). From the beginning of the D90 to the full range of the D800, in fact, when choosing the machine and lens, there is no tangle, nor asked who. For starters, mid-range SLRs such as D90 are actually enough, and they can be used in full when they are confident and necessary. Lens, in addition to the general focus, wide angle is necessary, long focus is to see personal shooting habits. As for which lens to choose, it's entirely up to you. Cheap is not necessarily impossible. For example, I use 16-35 in Wide Angle, the cheapest one in Nikon Wide Angle. I also know that Canon's 17-40 is actually very good. The cost-effective ratio is very high, not for the sake of stars and apertures, there is no need to go 16-35 at all. Generally speaking, if you think the photos are not good, first find your own stubble, then go to the camera and lens stubble.

In fact, I encourage you to buy all the equipment, in addition to a prerequisite for economic conditions, but also under this premise: you are determined to spend time and energy to take good pictures of the scenery. Photography products are generally a penny for a penny. Lee's filters, Gitzo's shelves and Markins'balconies are used to feel good now. I go out very often. These things are easy to use. I won't complain about them, and they can be used for a long time, so I don't feel guilty about spending money. If you feel that you are not determined enough, make a fuss and try to shoot casually, then you can't afford to buy too expensive product line, otherwise it's a waste of money.
